Nobody Uses the Internet on Friday – Especially Snow Day Fridays

Posted on 08 January 2010

It’s Friday and nobody uses the internet on Friday especially in Chicago where we are digging ourselves out of some snow.  So, snow day!

Snow days used to mean sledding, snow people building, drinking alpines, ice skating, drinking hot toddys, snow ball fights, drinking mulled wine, warming fires in the fireplace, playing cards, and drinking vodka shots from the bottle that has been sitting in the snow bank all day.

When I think of cold weather I think of turning blue. Turning blue makes me think of the Na’vi in the movie Avatar. Of course when I think of the Na’vi in Avatar I am forced to ponder… how do they have sex? Thankfully, this mystery will be resolved on the DVD release of the movie.

Actress Zoe Saldana, who plays Neytiri, said the sex involves the same process the alien race uses to communicate on its fictional home planet.

In the film, communication takes place by locking hair with flora and fauna, in a process known as “synching”.

Saldana said: “If you sync to your banshee and you’re syncing to a tree, why not sync into a person?

Sex being equivalent to communication. Maybe the Na’vi have more to teach us beyond ‘don’t litter’ or whatever the message of the movie was. Now wait, if I sync my ipod does that mean my ipod is having sex with my computer? I don’t know whether to be turned on or grossed out.
